Flemish human rights institute (Vlaams Mensenrechteninstituut)

The Flemish Human Rights Institute (VMRI) protects and promotes human rights in Flanders as an independent institution. Victims of or witnesses to discrimination can submit a complaint to the institute when the situation falls under Flemish competency. The institute can deal with individual complaints - after first-line assistance - through mediation between the parties. If the mediation does not lead to a result, then the litigation chamber can make a non-binding judgement.
